As a life-long dog lover, I have immersed myself in the care and training of many dogs. In addition to raising puppies into well-balanced, adult dogs, I worked for years as a behavioral evaluator for a non-profit rescue, often rehabilitating dogs whose behavior would have made them unadoptable from a shelter environment. After working with a reputable trainer on the skills involved in competitive obedience and rally, I decided to share what I had learned with other people seeking strong bonds and loving relationships with their dogs. Some people want a dog who will greet them at the door, tail wagging and toy in mouth, while others want a dog to bark a protective warning at a stranger's approach. My goal is to give people the skills and knowledge needed to achieve the relationships they want, whatever they may be. Everything begins with basic obedience, opening the lines of communication between human and dog. I have personal knowledge of many different breeds and their dispositions, as well as first-hand experience of the different challenges in raising a young puppy or adopting an adult or senior dog. I look forward to the variety of people and dogs who I can help through my class to communicate better with each other not just in a training environment, but throughout their lives.
